How I Can Help

Always working to the client’s agenda and pace, my Integrative client-centric style is both collaborative and supportive, providing a confidential and non-judgmental space for a reflective exploration of the self. I believe that by deepening one’s awareness of self, clients can gain the confidence to uncover, challenge and then overcome past pain and conflict that may be negatively impacting them in the here and now.

A vital aim of the therapy that I offer is to provide clients with a safe and accepting environment, a space where they can feel comfortable enough to begin to explore and uncover a deeper understanding of themselves.

Through my work as a counsellor I have met clients with a broad range of issues that have been affecting their lives. These have included anxiety, depression, OCD, intrusive thoughts, social anxiety, bereavement and loss, work stresses, relationship problems, identity issues and low self-esteem.

As the history, experiences and situation of each client is unique, I endeavour to provide a service that is uniquely tailored to the individual needs of each client.

About Me

Prior to beginning my career in counselling, I spent twenty years working within the financial services industry. Over this period I gained first-hand experience of how the workplace can both positively and negatively impact self-image, self-confidence and general well-being. I can relate to how the internal and external pressures of professional and personal life can directly impact on one’s mental health and self-worth.

Graduating from University with a degree in Behavioural Sciences (BSc Hons) I have gone on to complete a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling as well as certificates in both counselling studies and counselling skills. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Summary of Qualifications

  • CPCAB Level 4 – Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative)
  • CPCAB Level 3 – Certificate in Counselling Studies (Integrative)
  • CPCAB Level 2 – Certificate in Counselling Skills (Integrative)
  • BACP Certificate of Proficiency
  • BSc (Hons) Degree in Behavioural Science

I’m a registered member of the BACP and have full professional indemnity insurance.

What to Expect

Having taken the courageous decision to reach out for therapy, for those individuals who have never experienced therapy before I can understand it might be a little unsettling to take that first step into the unknown. Please be assured that as the client you will be placed at the centre of the process at all times.

After you have made contact, we would usually have an initial discussion on the phone or online via Zoom to explore whether I am a suitable therapist for you and answer any immediate questions you have about the therapy I offer. This initial 30-minute consultation is free of charge and there is no obligation to continue working together following the call.

If, from this conversation, you feel comfortable to continue forward with me as your counsellor, it would be at this point we would discuss scheduling an appointment to meet online via Zoom at a mutually agreeable day and time.

A Confidential Space

As a registered member of the BACP and a graduate member of the BPS I adhere to their ethical frameworks, and what is discussed in sessions remains confidential but with the following exceptions:

  • It is standard practice to regularly consult with a qualified professional supervisor so as to ensure I continue to work in a way that best serves the interests of my clients. During these consultations, I will discuss themes and ideas that arise out of my work with clients. The supervisor is only privy to the initials or first name of a client and therefore the client’s identity remains anonymous.
  • If I believe that you may be at significant risk of harm to yourself or others, I will need to break confidentiality to ensure your or their safety. Where possible, I will discuss this with you prior to doing so.
  • If I am required to do so by a court of law.
